Hey all! Our health is so important for getting what we want in our lives. That extends to our finances so I’ve got an awesome guest post today from Daniel from TrueWellnyss. Check out the article and then check out TrueWellnyss. Enjoy!

We all face financial stress at one point or another. The reality is, is that it’s inevitable and uncontrollable in most cases.

Taking time to assess and correct our state of well-being can make all the difference when persevering through challenging times, which is why in this article, we will be looking at why health should become a priority when trying to deal with financial stress.

How Improving Your Health Can Effect The Way You Deal With Finances

Many people fall victim to believing that the reason they cannot focus on living a healthy lifestyle is due to their financial circumstances. However, despite the severity of the situation, it is important to grasp the idea that neglecting your health can negatively impact your decisions around finding solutions to financial problems, which you may be facing. Let me explain…

Our bodies and minds are designed to handle stress and deal with challenges. This is simply a part of our nature, and it is how we grow in order to deal with greater obstacles later down the road. The sooner that we come to peace with the idea that challenges are there to make us and not break us, the sooner we can look for solutions.

Now, in order to solve problems to the best of our ability, it is critical that we take care of the very mechanisms that are able to do so. Our bodies and our minds.

Getting yourself to a healthy place will help you think clearer and work optimally in order to find creative ideas, as well as solutions, therefore helping you deal with financial stress. Not doing so will only worsen and prolong the situation, resulting in further emotional distress which can lead to more severe cases of stress, such as anxiety and depression.

Here are 5 things you can start doing to move the needle.

Meditation

Meditating regularly is a great way to relax and calm the mind. There are plenty of resources out there that are designed to help relieve any stress and anxiety you may have around finances.

A recent study posted on ScienceDaily.com has even shown that a single session of meditation can reduce stress in individuals who face emotional stress and anxiety. Doing so can even decrease the risk of cardiovascular disease that is caused by high blood pressure.

Stay Active

An article by Harvard University revealed how regular aerobic exercise can counter depression and reduce stress levels both mentally and physically.

Exercise helps to reduce your body’s stress hormones, including adrenaline and cortisol. It also helps to produce natural mood-elevating chemicals called endorphins, which helps promote feelings of relaxation and optimism. Even a 20-minute walk can significantly reduce feelings of stress throughout the day.

Get Your Eating Patterns Under Control

Like exercise, eating also has a large impact on the way your body produces stress hormones. Eating clean and healthy foods will help promote proper brain function, allowing you to think clearer and optimistically.

High sugar and high saturated fatty foods can also have a negative effect on insulin levels in your body. This can result in a lack of energy and mood swings. Too much for too long can even result in high blood pressure and insulin imbalances, which can lead to negative health complications, such as type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease.

Get Proper Sleep

Sleep is just as important as diet and exercise. In fact, it is one of the biggest factors when it comes to stress, anxiety, and depression.

Many people today, especially in the U.S lack either quantity or quality sleep. Both are important in order to help stabilize hormone levels, mood and recover from any emotional distress that you may have experienced from the day before.

The best way to ensure you get the most out of your sleep is to achieve a proper deep sleep through the night. This is a complete state of rest where you are disengaged from your wakeful environment, allowing your mind and body to fully recuperate.

Surround Yourself With Supportive People

Social support can be one of the best ways to cope and get through difficult times. Surrounding yourself with a network of people can help release oxytocin, which is a hormone that stimulates feelings of self-worth and confidence.

Staying isolated and disconnected can leave you lingering with your own negative thoughts, which can ultimately result in more stress around finances. Communicating with a friend or family member can also help normalize the situation, and bring a sense of calmness and security.

Bottom Line

It is important to take full ownership of your mental and physical state. How you feed your mind and body will determine how well you think and deal with stressful situations.

Implementing the 5 tips together will have a strong positive impact if practiced consistently over long periods of time. You will be surprised at how well you will respond to stress, whether it’s about finances or any other situation.

Remember, your circumstance is only temporary. Curveballs will come your way that are uncontrollable to a degree. However, what you CAN control is your well-being and how you respond to the very challenges you face on a daily basis.
